Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a good course for beginners?

A little bit of knowledge about gel printing will be helpful but even if you have a minimum of experience with gel printing you should be able to follow this class.

Do I need a Gelli Arts® gel printing plate?

My techniques are based on using a Gelli Arts® gel printing plate. The techniques will work on plates that are similar to a Gelli Arts® plate but plates that are meant for printmaking with special printmaking inks or handmade gel plates might not always give the same results.

Will I get long hours of videos?

The answer is no! The total of the videos is about 1,5 hours. I wanted to make this course manageable for everyone and a lot of us are short on time or have a short attention span. So I decided to skip the obvious parts and focus on the really important things. You will get to see real time footage of actions that are essential for success. You won’t see me coloring for hours but you will get snippets of the process, more than enough to understand how it's done.

Quality instead of quantity 😊

You will also get a Pdf with loads of additional information, tips and tricks.

When does this workshop start?

All the lessons are available now for immediate access. This is a completely self-paced online course.

Can I ask questions regarding the content of the videos?

Yes! Under each video lesson you have the possibility to comment and ask questions which I will answer as soon as possible.

How long do I have access to the content?

You have lifetime access. You can come back as often as you want to watch the videos.

How about copyright issues regarding the used images?

As for the magazine transfers, copyright might apply, but only if you want to sell your art. If you use the images in your own personal art, for instance in your art journal, it is not an issue.

If you do want to sell your art you need to check the copyright law in your country as it is not the same everywhere.

For laser image transfers you have several options. Of course you can use your own photos but there are also royalty free sources online. On these websites you usually also have an option to buy licenses to use the images in art you want to sell.

In which languages is the course available.

The videos are english spoken and at this moment unfortunately only available with english subtitles. I hope to have more options in the future.

What if I’m unhappy with the course?

I would never want you to be unhappy!

I’ve put a lot of effort, thought and love into this class. If, despite that, there are still issues then please contact me through [email protected]

Hi! I'm Birgit.

I'm a printmaker and mixed media artist from The Netherlands. I'm a happy wife, a proud mom and an even prouder grandma. I'm my cat's maid and my horse's servant and I'm good with that!

When I'm not at home dipping my fingers in paint, I'm most likely at the stable or on vacation because I love to travel! My art is very colorful, I LOVE color. No color combination it too weird or out of the box for me!

I've been gel printing since 2013 and my gel plate has become my most favorite and best used art tool. I've put my heart and soul into creating this workshop and I hope you will join me and experience the magic of image transfer gel printing!

Supply list for this class:

You don't NEED all the supplies on this list and also there would be good alternatives to the items I used so it might be a good idea to watch the videos and read the Pdf before purchasing a lot of unnecessary stuff.

  • Gelli Arts® gel printing plate 5"x7" *
  • 4" Speedball soft rubber brayer - I prefer this one over a hard rubber or glass brayer because a hard brayer has the tendency of sliding over the wet paint especially when the layer is a bit thicker.
  • 8" Essdee lino roller for color gradients
  • Acrylic paint: Talens Amsterdam Standard, Ara Acrylics, Liquitex Basics and Golden
  • Paper: normal copier paper, heavy copier paper, cardboard, tissue- or silk paper - optional Grafix Dura-lar matte film. For my laser prints I use HP ColorChoice 200gsm
  • Magazines
  • Laser printed images in black and white
